Ah! Something a little more conceptual on my DA! So, this assignment, when given to me, was the bane of my existence. Really, I couldn't have hated it more. It was: a fictional theatre company is doing a production of the simpsons with live actors. I had to cast a friend or family member as a character from the show (which I don't watch!), and paint a character portrait that would be displayed in the theatre lobby.

Oh, and it had to be 30" x 40" - easily the biggest piece of art I have ever made.

So, even though I wasn't too happy with the assignment, I went ahead with it and tried to make the most out of it. This is my Dad, posing for me as Flanders, if you haven't guessed.

What's really disturbing for me about this piece is that my dad has a beard, and has had one for my whole life. The likeness isn't dead-on, but seeing him without his fantastic chin friend is actually very disturbing. I can understand why my sister started crying when she was little and he shaved it (Once. And only once).

Now that's what i'd say about something like "в яблочко"! =)
My congrats with perfect (and there's absolutely no doubt about that) transfer of cartoon character to our world - 100% flawless!

Srsly, there're not much words i really can say about the picture - emotions only.

Just to make my thoughts clear, when i saw it, i was simply astonished by how perfectly this man displays good ol' Nedy-Shnedy.

A lot of the realistic Simpsons I see are either freaky-looking or creepy. This one is beyond amazing.
